steering and alignment question
Hey guys, things have been pretty hectic with BCIT and I have only been reading some of the posts on this board once in a while.
But good news for my car, I bought a set of Goodyear GSC 245/45/ZR16's from CarNDrvr off this message board. He sold them for a wicked price and even after shipping, gst/pst, exchange, and labor to put them on, Im sitting at about half the price to buy them up here. What a difference in traction.
However my old front tires were wearing on the edges and I was told I need an alignment done. Anyone know a good configuration for my car? And does it matter where I take it?
The new tires didnt fix my loose steering problem as I hope it would have improved a bit. When I got my car checked out in July before I bought it, the shop said the idler arm had marginal wear. Not sure exactly what that means but I'm hopeing thats the only problem with the steering. The steering is getting worse or maybe I'm just noticing it more. Anything I should know before I take it into a shop for them to replace?
I'm looking at taking it to a shop in the lower mainland here since I'm too busy with school to get under the car. What place do you guys recommend for steering work? And how much should I look on spending for the idler arm parts and labor?
Thanks for any responces. I tell you with our wet weather now those new tires make me a feel a lot safer. I keep traction in the rain now with half throttle! Before it would smoke them on dry pavement giving that much. Beautiful.
