Hugger Recovered
Hugger Recovered
I got a call from the Portland police today that my Camaro has been recovered. The news was not good however. According to the tow company, their records show that the wheels were removed. According to the police, the wheels are gone, there are no windows, and it is wrecked. It was recovered in a quarry on the other side of town in Hillsboro. I'll have to go out tomorrow and see it and decide if I want to pay $241.50 to recover it, or pay $188.50 and hand them the title. I'll probably recover it since I can always part it out. Hopefully the keys to blue and my garage will still be in it so I don't have to forever worry about that, even though my garage lock has already been changed.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and concern. If you happen to see any chrome IROCs in the paper or at the Portland Swap Meet next weekend, please contact me on my cell right away (503-702-2312).

Lance, I'm glad its been found... I hope the damage isn't too extensive to it
that really sucks about the wheels... but you have spares still and I've still got them centerlines if you're interested, if you do indeed decide to keep the car and repair the damage
I've also got a few parts that might help (since I don't think andrew wants the 85-90 gfx) ... so whatever you choose, let us know buddy and I'm sure more than just myself are willing to help out as well

Yeah, I'm afraid that the tow company probably just pulled it up onto a flatbed with no consideration of the exhaust or gfx, etc... I think I am going to go out there later and see if I can see it through their fence.

Cool that it was found. Sucks that those bastards wrecked it!
Its bad enough that some worthless piece of $hit took your car to begin with but why ruin it completely?! Thats just senseless!!! Damn, I'm really pissed! I mean, if they were gonna swap VINs, repaint it and drive it, I could almost understand that, but to just destroy the car for the sake of destroying it is just so f**king stupid! I hope you find out who did it, Lance. Good luck.

That sucks!! My 86 T/A was stolen twice before I got it from my brother. Did the cops get any prints? Did you have any wheel locks for the rims? I know that in most cases, it doesn't stop them from stealing them, just slows them down a little. I use old "made in china" sockets to remove them in the pull-a-parts. Bang'em on, wrench'em off.
On a side note, I will be going down to San Diego this weekend (7th) and will have a weekend free (13/14) in the junk yards also.
Usually pretty good pickings, since there is a lot of INS confiscations that end up in the yards.
