Lenient Safety Inspections
Lenient Safety Inspections
We should make a list of the places that don't give third gens the **** lookover.
I ended up getting mine at the 76 right by the 'yard in pearl city, across from the Dodge dealership. The guy turned on my headlights and he might have played with my blinkers but I didn't notice it. He didn't even open the door, start the car, or check the brakes. My windows were down also, but I don't have tint.
Although they did charge me $5 more because they tack on $5 for cars with tint. But maybe it's because I usually answer, "Only whatever comes from the factory" whenever I'm asked if my cars have tint on 'em.
Anyway, that place is a guaranteed check if you don't mind heading to pearl city. I forget what that highway is called... I'm sure someone knows it. I might have to take my truck there if I keep getting failed.

Scott

Chevron at the bottom of St. Louis Height's is pretty awesome, the head mechanic there loves third gen's, he's always working on a blue 89 IROCZ L98, G92 optioned with fiberglass cowl induction hood, borla exhaust, plus godknows what else is in there, he let me drive it once, and wow that thing makes my RS feel like a 4cyl toyota camry. Yeah the guy is pretty cool, I dont think he'd fail you for anything, and if he did hed fix it so it would pass, my horn didnt work so he rewired it, and now it does, at the same time however, my headlights wont switch out of highbeams mode, (I have no idea what is wrong).

Thanks! I think I'll take my '79 chevy there and spark up a conversation with that guy. Hmmm... the horn is the last thing that "shouldn't" pass the check though, but that is also the only thing that hasn't been commented on yet. I'll just have to wait for him to test it and "BEEP!" as loud as I can....

Ewa Repair Station in Waipahu is pretty good. You get to stay in the car while they have you beep the horn, blink your lights (so if your turn signal jus stays on, you can lever it on and off yourself, and if you hazard switch is broke, like on my wife's car, you can hold it down...) and the other stuff. I think they pay close attention to cracked lenses, though...
I think the whole idea of a State Sefety Check is really retarded, the guy who dreamed it up must have been dead even in intelligence to a bag of week-old stale fries, but the good money would be on the fries.
