Hmmm, if you need a stock one, I think they're only 153 tooth. If it's the stock one you need, I have an extra one I'll sell for $20 plus shipping. Pat.

I thought they came in 168 and 153. TCI Streetfighter converter says to use a 168 tooth only.

Hmmm, that's kind of a gray area for me as well. It seems like I remember some of the guys on here saying the T5 thirdgens use a different starter, which would probably be the one for a 168 tooth flywheel. I know most of the older TH350 168 tooth flexplates had dual bolt patterns to accomodate different spacing on the converter lugs. If your TCI converter uses the larger lug bolt circle, I guess you'd have to run a 168 tooth flexplate since the 153 tooth ones only have one bolt pattern on them, which is for the smaller bolt circle. I'd be willing to bet one of the aftermarket manufacturers makes a larger flexplate for 87 and up one piece rear main engines. Hopefully, either TCI can tell you what you need to do, or maybe someone here on the boards knows the solution?

i have never seen a gm plate that didnt have both patterns, regardless of diameter/tooth count

you could run a 153 tooth plate and straight across bolt pattern starter jut fine

i think TCI just wants to sell you more unneedingly

im from the boat that runs whatever works,
not what a company thinks that i need to buy and use

i dont really see what the big deal is

if anything just invest in a tape measure, when in doubt

good luck

Oh trust me Fast68, I'm from the same "boat" as you! I don't believe in buying unnecessary, expensive parts either. But I can tell you the flexplate for the one piece rear main engines definitely has only one bolt pattern in it (i.e. only three holes, not six). The thing is, I can't imagine that this TCI converter wouldn't have the proper bolt spacing for the stock flexplate that 700r4's use.
