Looking for OEM T/A stripes *REWARD PAID*

Hello all..I've got an '86 T/A that I need to try and track down a set of the OEM red/gray checkerboard stripes that run around the entire car. I've tried buying a couple of aftermarket sets, but don't care for them since (a) they're slightly shorter than OEM, (b) they are two separate pieces (one piece for the red stripe and one for the silver checkerboard, and (c) aren't molded properly to fit around the corners (especially the back bumper). Since I'm new to this, and because no dealer or body shop around where I live gives a rat crap about helping me find parts for a 20 year old car, I thought I'd try here. I am absolutely obsessed with authenticity and will pay any reasonable bounty (in addition to the cost of the parts) to anyone who can find me a set. I actually am also looking for a replacement set of 16" wheels, I had mine remanufactured but they shaved a few mm of metal off the surface so now the center caps stick out and don't look right. Cost of the parts, shipping, etc is no object as long as everything's OEM. There are other things I'm looking for as well, but these are the most important to me right now. The car I need these for is pictured, so everyone can see exactly what I need.

guess the picture would help!

Sorry guys, apparently I'm not bright enough to figure out how to attach the pic. I stuck it on my website instead, http://www.shapeir.com/pictures/transam/pic1.jpg Thanks!

Hi!
I can check, but I know that I don't have a complete set.
I have some NOS GM ones in the boxes.
I can check the part numbers and where they fit on the car.
But only if you would be intrested in them.

Let me know,

George

Thanks, I'd be willing to take whatever piece(s) you may have. I'm sure I'm not going to find a single complete set somewhere, more like I'm going to have to scour the universe for each piece.

www.classicindustries.com has them $199 to $239 depending if you have the large bird on your hood>>

Unfortunately, that's where I got the aftermarket set I tried. The normal decals (birds, "Trans Am"s, "5.0 Liter FI"s are ok, but the running stripe is pretty lame. The OEM stripe was a single piece (red and gray checkerboard was one 2" tall piece) whereas these aftermarkets are two pieces that must be laid over each other, and more importantly the aftermarkets are a very thick vinyl that won't bend properly when "making the corner" around the back bumper without breaking or distorting.

DO you have the OEM Part number??

Check with the dealer. They can check there computer and see if any dealer in the states has them. They can give you the phone number of the other dealer and you can work out the cost.

They can also give you a name of a company that buys all of the disconted parts from the chevy pontiac. It is a 1 800 number. but I can remember the number.

If they won't do it lmk will go to the drealer here and see what I can find out.

Well that's another problem. I have a huge list of *potential* part numbers (from gmpartsdirect.com), but the descriptions leave a lot to be desired. Since I'm new to this, I'm trying to track down all the original service and body manuals from 1986 hoping they might lead me in the right direction, at least. Also unfortunately, where I live the dealers just give me this "you've got to be kidding" look when I mention finding NOS parts for a 20-year old car. I assume they'd all prefer I just junked my faithful T/A and bought a damn Hummer or something. At this point, since I'm usually pretty busy day-to-day and new to this, I'd just as soon pay someone to do all this hunting down parts work for me, if anyone would be able or willing to make some kind of deal like that.
