Complete, functioning T-5.
Hey guys, I live in Boston, MA. I've been looking around, but third gen parts are actually kinda hard to come by here. I've been to several junkyards and none have been all that promising. I acquired an 87 Camaro RS. I'm not looking to make it a powerhouse, I just want to keep it clean have fun with it.
One of my first jobs would be to swap out the automatic for a manual. I was wondering if anyone had a used T-5 they were selling. My plan would be to rebuild a T-5 as well as I can, and then make the swap. I know a T-56 would be an infinitely better choice, but its the whole college deal here, so money's a factor. And again, I think a T-5 will suffice.
Thanks alot.

$500 ,............ I live in Rhode Island.
I'm pretty sure that everything is there, I pulled this T5 out all of the car ( Z28 'HO' ) about 2 years ago. I've been sitting on the tranny for a project that hasn't happened..... It's painted red and sitting on jackstands in my garage. The bell housing, clutch, pedals, bla - bla - bla is sitting together right in front of the tranny - but I haven't cleaned those parts yet.
Let me know if you are seriously interested.

How was the transmission running when you took it out? I'm pretty interested. It might be a while before I physically make the move to purchase it, but I figured I'd take my time to find a quality t-5.

I never drove the car........ It was my buddies ride. He had the car sitting in his yard for about a year without touching it. I was trying to get the dash pad out of the car from him - and ended up buying the whole car instead. The State got a complaint about the number of cars he had and he had no choice but to get rid of all the cars/trucks without a license plate on them.. ( he had 40-45 vehicles at the time. )
He drove the car from where it was parked to the lift in his garage and I stripped the whole car from there. I never drove the car myself - but I was/am confident enough in the tranny to have wire brushed it and painted it to prepare it for my own use.
P.S. Any Tranny shop can open a T5 and verify it's OK for a minimal charge, usually $40-50. That's what I've done with the last 3 T5's I installed...... The automatics are a different story !!!
P.S.S. I had NO PLANS to sell this tranny until I read your message. I'm driving a V6 5 speed and planed to use the tranny for a V8 conversion once this V6 dies. The V6 will not die so someone might as well get some use from this T5 !

Well for me, a drive to RI is no biggie. But I probably wont make the swap until the spring...I just wanted to see how much the used T-5's would be going for (having no previous comparision as to the prices). So I will certainly keep your name, and when the time rolls around for me to make the purchase, and your T-5 is still around, then I will definitely let you know.
