Your more then likely gonna have to call up comp cams to get a better cam for your 305.

I have a cam for sale but it is way to radical for a 305.

must be flat tappet.

im just looking for a good used cam, the entire drivetrain is getting pulled out before the end of the year.

i have a grude race coming up and i dont want to have to dump too much money in the car to win.

i need to run a little faster than 9.8, hes running 9.9's. i need some more breathing room.

i'd never use a used cam when new they are so cheap, only $160 for it with lifters. Don't forget all the gaskets you'll need to buy to pull out the old cam as well.

I have a Comp 286H with the lifters that is used and nothing is wrong with it. i also have the stock springs i removed from my AFR heads. I know the cam will fit your small block but i'm not sure how well it would work in a 305? I ran 11.98 with that cam in my 388.

$100 shipped takes cam, lifters, and springs

CAM

I have one for sale $45 + shipping.

I got this cam for my l69 and was told this is the best cam for my 85 Firebird 305. I added headers and the thing ran really nice. Only used the cam for about 700 miles. I decided to go with some performance 601 heads, holley carb, 5 spd manual , Edelbrock intake and another cam. Here are the spec:

Basic Operating RPM Range: 1,500-4,000 RPM
Intake Duration at 050 inch Lift: 204
Exhaust Duration at 050 inch Lift: 214
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 204 int./214 exh.
Advertised Intake Duration: 262
Advertised Exhaust Duration: 272
Advertised Duration: 262 int./272 exh.
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.420 in.
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.442 in.
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.420 int./0.442 exh. lift

I also will be having a set of 416 heads available that ran good and was replaced with performance 601 heads.

i think that 286 cam is a bit too big for the little stock 305.

mcbchild, ill pm you with a few more questions.

If your really on a tight budget and need this Cam ASAP, may I suggest buying a Cam from Summit. They have their own brand Cam and Lifter Kit for $67.95 (On Special til April 30th)and I believe they free ship. On the mild side look into kit # SUM-K1103. I have a similar grind in my L69, its okay...Or if you have Headers and an Aftermarket intake(Edelbrock Performer #2101) I would go with Kit# SUM-K1105(similar to the CC262). Both of these Cams should be fine with your factory springs. The 1105 will give you a slightly rough idle and that cool "lumpy" sound. That would be my choice (for a quick and inexpensive solution) . Again, good luck.
