I would never buy anything fiberglass off Ebay unless they're a sponsor on here. You'll spend alot more money on a subpar hood than you will dishing out the extra up front towards a well known company and having minimal problems when you're trying to get it ready for paint.

I agree - Plus, AFAIK, ASCD makes the SS hoods that we all have come to know; I don't know if DuraFlex is a reproduction of that hood or what.

When it comes to fiberglass parts especially, you get what you pay for. You can spent a LOT more in bodywork, fixing a bad part than you would have if you'd just bought a reputable part.

Buyer beware.

[edit] I just looked at some of the ads featuring this "DuraFlex" stuff. Looks pretty hokey to me. I'm always leary of body panels coming from California - Seems there is a LOT of complete garbage being made and offered for sale in California.

Watch their cheesy video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS91ehfj0aY

Sure, the part may not break or crack, but how is the fitment on the car?? I absolutely HATE seeing body kits that have to be "held into shape" with rivets/screws that get bondo'd over. Thats kinda what this stuff looks like.

I wonder if the people that sell this crap really think the rest of the country is a bunch of total idiots, 'cause that's who it looks like their videos are trying to aim for.

Re: ss hood

I know you want an SS hood, but I'm just throwing it out there - Cervini's makes great hoods with awesome fitment. They also really go out of their way to minimalize the body work needed to get it ready for spray.

FYI HAWKS makes 90% of all of our hoods in house.
Thanks, Bruce

Re: ss hood

Just some FYI about the seller referenced in the original post.

The seller he's talking about is "hood4sale" on Ebay.

Do a google search on "hood4sale", using the quotations. You'll see he's a company called Cincinnati Composites (I've also seen it referred to as Liberty Fiberglass) - They have HORRIBLE feedback everywhere you look. It sounds like he takes other companies' completed hoods, takes a crappy mold and makes crappy products out of them.

I'd encourage TGO members to avoid him.

Here's a quote from a guy on a Mustang forum:

"Here's how they stay in business: They keep changing their name and preying on people who don't know any better. Here's a list of places that they advertise, and the names the do business under:

Mustang and Ford Trader Magazine: Cobra Auto Designs

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords: Liberty Mustang Supply

ebay: Hood4sale

Why have they changed their name? Because in 2000, Cincinnati Composites was banned from advertising in MM&FF and 5.0. Why? Because Primedia Publications had more customer complaints against Cincinnati Composites than all other advertisers COMBINED. As of 2 years ago, they had over 63 formal Better Business complaints against them.

They have changed thier name many times, but their product and customer service remain the same. As long as they can hide their identity, they will continue to stay in business.

If you truly want to make a difference, let your friends know who the above companies really are, and make this the new sticky on Cincinnati Composites. These are facts that are backed up by truth that you can verify yourself.

In fact, check it out for yourself. Call each one of these companies and ask for directions to their shop so you can pick a hood up. All but Liberty Mustang will give you the same address: Paddock Rd. Exit off of 75, next to the Jim Beam Brewery. (For Liberty Mustang, they bought a Delaware P.O. box and phone number to throw people off. You'll have to pick up your hood at some guys house in Maryland that they ship hoods to for local pickup)

Just thought people should be informed... Spread the word. "

I hope this information helps EVERYONE understand that this is a company to avoid... unless you want total crap.

Re: ss hood

The worst part is that they use those nutzert things to put threads into the fiberglass - Those are for metal, not fiberglass!

Re: ss hood

i have an ASCD hood....i dunno if anyone else has had this problem but mine would not close due to hitting the washer bottle(and i would assume the overflow bottle as well) i shimmed the latch years ago and it would close but was sitting up above the fender on one side.

as of yesterday i put in a 4th gen washer and coolant bottle and was able to get the hood where it was supposed to be with out the 3rdgen bottles. had to cut down the brackets on my strut tower brace as well..

Re: ss hood

I was wanting the Duraflex WS6 hood for my 86 IROC. The company on ebay told me that people were complaining about the hood sitting almost an inch above the fenders. I also am looking else where.
