My Engine Is Out

It's possible that a rod bearing went bad. I'll find out tomorrow. Oh by the way, who said you can't pull the engine out without having to take off the hood, headers, fans and radiator. I move the charged A/C compressor to the side and held it by a strap.

I still have the 210hp NOS kit sitting on the shelf used on that motor and a full bottle. I wonder if it will handle 250 shot.

I don't know... That motor has been ridden hard and put up wet by Vince and a couple of others. I say just go large with the dual stage unit and port the block with a couple of connecting rods

I found the problem. It's a rod bearing and it killed the crank.

All you need now is a set of AFR 210 cylinder heads and a carburator! Oops scratch that last word. Then "IF" you hook it up at the track, you can add a 12 bolt rear.

cant wait for this to be put together . Short runner vs. big long runner . i wanna see what your setup will put down . Ever since you mentioned skipping the 355 and going for a 396 i cant stop reading about them .

Right now its on hold. Got to smog the car first. Just replace the cats. The speedometer stop working. Have to pull the tranny to fix it. The drive gear broke. Just got another one in the mail today. Finally going to change out the bent axles next week and taking out the 3.73's and going to install 3.42's. It will probably be done around April or May for sure. I have to get a few more parts before it goes to the machine shop.

The problem with any future porting is my porting/grinding motor went out during the TPI Cross Ram project and I had to finish it with a 3/8" drill motor.

So for a couple of reasons I am out of the porting business including it being a big pain in the ****.

There is not to much to a miniram. Should be a cake walk porting compared to a TPI setup. ;-)

This is probably maybe what Vincent had machine work for that Tpis cam. I would just go with a custom Engle or Cam motion cam small base circle. So there is more than one way. I just learned this a month ago from Gene.

There is progress now. I just dropped off my engine block today. Since it spun a rod bearing on #8 cylinder, it kinda scored the cylinder wall. They are going to try to hone it a little. If it doesn't work, he may have to bore it out to .060 meaning I will have a 388cu. It already .040 over. Oh what fun this will be.

Sounds like you may need a .30 block. that .60 is pushing it an you know that. These strokers have there cool days an they can see hot days.

Come on Vincent get that motor together! I keep it fair I get seven plus months to finish mine like you have. Just dont blow a rod before then. I hope your not wasting a chance with that 388 that just isnt going to be right at .60 over if it's needed. Buy a block Vincent .30!!!! Vortec 4 bolt main. Dont for get your Total seal rings! And put your Vette Sr back on that Mini Ram sucks.

What you went with a 3.75 over the 3.875 396 I must have missed that. Ya I understand why. Well sounds like all your hope is in the ZZX cam. That's to bad.. My choice is the 219/219 Lingenfelter. And you know who ran that cam already. Im going with Eagle over the Scat's stuff. Well hope this engine works out for you. You should have done this 8 years ago. Nothing like something new in your ride.

Got the engine back from the machine shop. The all new 388cu. Now just gotta find time to finish it up.

I did but didn't have the money for it. Plus I still wanted to use my old block. I went .060 because the number 8 cylinder was scared up and the bores was already .040. So why not take it to the limit. This was about $1000 cheaper
