IIRC, those are all ground with pretty narrow LSA's which is, while good for top end power, not idle friendly.

They are decent cams. They are a little upside down for most SBCs due to the fact that it has less lift on the exhaust side, they counter act that with duration, but SBCs need all the exhaust help they can get. The slobery idel is the marketing point. It gives guys who want the fair ground sound, "the sound" without making the rest of the power curve horrible.

Yep, i've heard a few engine builders use them with great success. Surprisingly enough the wide duration split and tight LSA work really well on most combinations. Most cams you'd see only have a few degs split, but these wide split thumper type cams create a broad powercurve, with hp holding on in the upper rpms after peak rpm.

They always have sounded good in combinations but I would never run one since I could care less about sound. It's about what you want the car to do.

Re: comp cams mother thumper

thats true, I've been through 3 hyd flat tap cams - comp, lunati, and crane blue racer which was a dam good cam 488 510 lift. let my bro inlaw drive took it past rpm and flatten lifter. so I decided to go w/ a better quality cam. the retofit was rite up my alley. I wish I had done some better reserch. they also make retrofit extreme and magnum single and dual pattern w/ better exh scaveging effect cam. if I do a tear down agian ( hope not ) I 'M gonna try'em
