well i prolly should have waited to find a vic jr efi and rails like i originally wanted but this car is going to be a daily driver so i just couldnt wait any longer to come across one at a good price, one i was wacthing on ebay with rails jumped to over 350 bucks add in the cost of "an" lines , a intake elbow and throttle body and it would have been dam near the price of an hsr so i said hell with it.

picked this up from a fellow board member along with the fuel lines coil/coil bracket/ and distributor for 300 bucks




some port work and it should be fine with the turbo since i plan on keeping the rpms below 6k

some figures from somone who runs a 355 tt dragster with the same heads on another forum

now he used 100% ve granted im more like 85% but just using his math as a figure
10 psi on 100 ve efficient motor would net around 805 hp

so my 5-600 rwhp goal should deffinatly be doable at around 15or so psi

Whats the specs on the 400? Half decent heads/cam on a 400 with 15 psi is gonna make well over 600whp. My setup was at 640 on a mustang dyno with 12psi thru a huge stall (overstalled) converter and TH400. Thats not even fully tuned and my heads/cam arent big.

I'm sure its got a cam in there, it would almost have to. Dave hasn't even said anything about the steam hole issue yet, but either way he should make some decent power though. I'd like to see that thing twin turbo charged to tell you the truth, especially if he's limiting himself to RPM, and if he wants this to be a daily driver....

its deffinatly has a cam just dont know the specs on it,it had a real nice lope at idle,the twins i bought would choke 400ci at around 4500 rpms and going to larger twins would be really exspensive

deffinatly will,going to need that box here sooner or later so i can fit in a 4 inch downpipe

engine code denotes a 300 hp 400, but i do not know if the heads are original to the motor.
motor has 882 heads which stock have 170cc runners and just edge out the vette l98 aluminum heads in flow,heads on the motor have been machined for larger springs/lift and do have a mild port job on them

unkown at this time if the block has been overbored or cr

my limiting factor will more then likley be the tpi setup BUT
a member of the turbo forums just offered me a hsr setup with billet rails/regulator, 58mm bbk tthrottle body for 400 + shipping

so im thinking about selling the tpi setup for what i paid for it and grabbing the hsr setup

the twins i have would kill the motor @ 4500 id have usable power range of 2000-4500 ish and then it would be all over

stage 3 turbines with .63 housings,they would be kind of iffy with a 350

the gt45 should be more of a 3000-6000 rpm turbo,though guys with 350s are reporting they spool up at 3k on those so i may get it to spool a lil sooner on a 400

any idea of the specs on that gt45? if its got a p trim exhaust wheel itll choke that 400 as well. exhaust pressure will be up there. mpt76 q would be much better suited for that ci, even better pt76gts, alot of guys wouldnt use anything less than a t6 flange for 400 ci. although your goals are modest so idk. i had backpressure issues on my 383 with a single 72mm with a q trim wheel, it was close to 30 psi with 10 psi boost and constantly battling header leaks.

the ebay gt45 has an 87mm turbine wheel and 1.05 ex housing,so it should be ok with my low power goals.
though the guys on the turbo forums are tellin me i will pass my 5-600 hp goals real easy with 400 ci and that turbo

Dave, which throttle body are you planning on running. I was just working on the dizzy correcting some of the wiring, and I'm looking over at the stock 48mm throttle body. Stock, they flow 668 CFM @ 1.5 in-HG (20.4 in-H20, as per TPIS), with an airfoil it jumps to 709 CFM, and that is more than enough for the 305. I think I'm going to stick with it....

heres my issues with the ds manifold, it hits the damn valve cover.
its a shame cause the hump in the manifold leaves alot of clearance for a downpipe

one i have for the passenger side fits perfect

That isn't a big deal at all, I had the same problem with the exhaust manifolds that I was going to run. Take the exhaust manifold to a machine shop, and have them resurface the flange on a "slight" angle to bring the buldge about a 1/2" to 3/4" of an inch away from the valve cover. That is what I did with mine when I had the Camaro after I cut, flipped then welded it together, and it worked fine....;

Yeah, I think they were used on Nova's too, just make sure you get two passenger side manifolds, and flip one of them. I brazed them, and it really holds up to the heat Dave, as the weld is extremely strong. I had the one I welded on that old fashioned clamp by Paul, and we bolted a turbo onto it to see if it would give. With a plasma cutter, we "hit" the manifold over and over until it reached temps upwards of 1200-degrees (used Paul's digital thermometer), and the weld still didn't give any. Buick turbo's bolt right up w/the three bolt flange (with just a little persuasion, of course). The first pic was just after the cut was made, but then I trimmed it down so that all three sides were seated flush...

Downpipe on the drivers side is going to be a tight fit bro, let me put them on the 305 and take some pictures all around for you, and if you still want them they are yours. Here is a picture on the passenger side though, plenty of room for the downpipe (and that is with that AC delete box installed)....

im usin an old laptop i have that the screen will be removed and then the rest of the laptop will be mounted under the seat.
this will be wired up to the display, along with the cars sound system.
then i will use a custom megatune dash on the screen as my gauges for boost afr rpm and speedo

megasquirt 2 v 3.57 smd with a complete bolt on harness
got it from a member of the boards here for 300 bucks shipped
im going to buy the ms3 processor and the msx 3x expansion board since they plug right in

then down the road i will convert to lsx cop ignition setup and sequential injection

the tv7512 is basically a t6 flanged t76,and is very easily upgraded to 91mm compressor wheel

its good for 1000+hp the way it sits

lol i just went biggggg and theres no going back now
new goal is 8's or bust trying

Just got back from the UPS store, they quoted me $63.00 for the shipping after weighing everything. I would just go with the XS-Power single turbo setup and get a T4 to T6 adapter flange for it bro....

Probably not without notching the framerail. I'm doing a 402 lsx with a Turbonetics t6 88mm and I want to fit a 4 in thru there. Also want to keep the Turbo in a similar location as I had before. 3.5 will definitely fit, I've seen 4 in fit with an aftermarket k member.

What a shame bro, cuz I was going to flip a set of stock exhaust manifolds and weld them up for you to run twins. Talk about room, the stock logs take up next to nothing, and a downpipe would easily fit. But either way though, nice score on the turbo....

Whenever your ready for the box bro, just lemme know. I started test fitting the T76 on the engine, damn thing looks awesome. Was measuring last night and it looks like I'll be able to squeeze in a 4" downpipe without notching the frame. Lemme know when your Megasquirt gets there cuz I have a few questions about the connectors....
