Ok well you guys have not heard from me in a while. I sold my old engine and am ready to buy a new one. Should I get a longblock crate motor, turn key or build from scratch? I want either a 383 stroker, 350 with a blower or a small block 400. What do i need to make my car run 11s without nitrous? Can anyone give me a combo, suggestions or places to buy an engine. I am from Mass and would like to get it local. I plan on putting in 411 gears for my 9 bolt borg warner and a new stall converter for my 700R4 tranny. I have $5000 for the engine alone. PS I want to use my carb, distributor and MSD 6+ with this engine. See sig. Thanks

 

Have you thought about an LS1 swap?

 

I really want to run a carb and dont want to deal with the computer stuff. I have thought about an LS1 with a centrifugal blower though. Do you know how much this will run me and where I can get it??

 

Here's a suggestion:

Pick up a HT383 motor from GM and mod it like the Chevy Hi-Po mag did, making 450hp on the motor alone. Cost is somewhere around $4500 for the motor & parts (not counting exhaust or fuel systems). It is featured in the most recent issues of CHP

Sorry, I didn't see your carb comment until I had already posted.

A used LS1 goes for 2.5-3.5K on ebay and the centrifugal kits are ~3K (just a guess) Vortech make a good kit and I think ATI as well. Search this section for info on the different companies.
