Is a Direct Port system worth the trouble?
I want to do a direct port system on my crate motor. Would it be worth the extra money for the added safety. I only plan on spraying a 150 shot. How hard is it. It looks pretty complicated. I haven't got my LT1 intake on yet, so I was going to start tapping out the holes in the runners.
I have a single nozzle NX kit now. Do they make an upgrade kit for a DP sys. or do I need a hole new n2o setup. Can I still use my solenoids I have now? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm new to direct port.
Thanks in advance:hail: :hail:

considering that you are using such a kind of "no runner" intake I think a single nozzle or plate will be OK.

The only real worry in my mind is you might run really lean in the front cyls. Thats kinda an inherent problem with front-mounted throttle bodies.

makes tuning and jet changes a bit@#!, also remember that if you intend to use EFI fuel pressures for the fuel side instead of a dedicated fuel system just for the nitrous running at carb pressure, the fuel jets will be tiny and suseptable to plugging (very bad) unless the shot you will run is gigantic.

how much do you think a set of custom bent piping like that would be ? i def. don't have " tha skillz " for mandrel bending like that despite taking metalshop I and II ... did the owner have to actualy tap the cylinder heads to install that fogger sys or do the heads have acc. ports for that ? or did they have y-type collectors for t-ing fuel lines to nos lines before entering the heads ?

thinking of those solenoids up there in the engine bay reminded me of how my starter and solenoid completely cr*pped out from the heat seep off my TES headers ... isn't that kind of dangerous to run them there, in case the solenoid gets friend and sticks open, or even, sticks closed and only 6 cyl. get NOS ? lol :sillylol: i mean i know that everything about NOS is potentially life and engine threatening but isn't that even more so ?

The brass tubes come straight and you have to bend them to the shape you need. shouldn't be too hard if you have a tube bender to help from kinking the lines.
Here is a close up of my fogger nozzles and solenoids,
that's kind of a scary thought, drilling and tapping a mega$buck intake ... i'd feel queasy even watching a certified machinist do it in a prof. shop =/
but i'll bet the end result is well worth it ! =D

the intake only costs $150-180 so it's not all that expensive.
That is the cheapest part of the Complete LT4 Hot Cam conversion kit which is about $2400.
