9/27/02 It lives!!

WOOHOO!! It lives!! We traced back the problem to the 12v switched wire to the speed pro. It was wired to a circuit that goes dead during cranking. Got that fixed and she fired right up and promptly smoked the oil off of every surface that gets warm.
The odd part? Its QUIET!! We dont have a muffler on it. It goes down under the car and exits maybe a foot behind the front passenger wheel and points straight back. Its oddly quiet. And we cant hear the turbo at idle either. Jerry said he could hear it through the exhaust when I revved it and it throttled down.

The headers are now a nice goldish color!! They look good this way too! Me likes!

It is very lean at idle right now too. it would surge if left anything lower than Id say 1500 rpms but I also have to work on the low rpm VE table to get it to idle on its own too.

On to the problems.

Water leaks water leaks! One leak from the fitting that screws into the bottom of the water pump from the lower radiator hose. And also leaking out of the fitting on the passenger side head.

The drivers side rocker arms were tapping a little bit so we have to take those down again.

Have to take all the headers back off anyway to retorque the head bolts.

So Saturday when I get home from work, the headers come off and all these items are getting fixed.

You couldnt wipe the smile off my face though!! Im very happy that the car is running and cant wait to get it smoothed out and on the dyno.

KICK ***!!

Good job! Water leaks are much better than fuel or oil leaks. A few "fixes"should be expected from a project as large as yours. Good luck on the dyno!

I couldnt even hear the turbo. All I heard was motor and it wasnt loud at all.

It was cool to finally see that turbo blade moving without me spinning it! LOL

Ill keep ya all posted over the next week. I hope to have it ready to put on the dyno in a little over a week from now.

Another 2 days of wrneching and the car is running tip top or at least as much as it can be sitting in a garage. Im waiting on my new driveshaft to arrive and this week going to be installing brake master cylinder and motor limiter bar. Some other small items to work out. If progress keeps up like this, we will make the dyno next weekend so I can get the car tuned at WOT onthe rollers.

Had a friend come by with his good camera today and took this pic.

nice guido, very nice. I bet it moves even without the driveshaft! With that much power... you shouldnt even need a transmission! Just connect the engine directly to the rear end... Direct Drive! Hell yeah!

Looks awesome. What kind of horsepower you looking to get out of that? If you don't mind me asking. What might something like that cost? I figured my TT project is gonna be about $3000 to do it the way I want to. So many parts and wastegates, new carb etc. I'm almost having second thoughts. I only have a 2 bolt 350 and it's built pretty good, just hate to blow it up. I could just build a 500 hp motor for not too much more than that.
