because intercoolers decrease boost and dont effectivlely cool incoming air for the loss in boost to be worth it... and the way he had it it was so twisty turney that it looked lame in terms of power boost.

If you're noticing a bit decrease in boost across an intercooler then it was too small/restrictive. A properly sized intercooler would make more horsepower if it doesn't heat soak. I'm sure you know all this but I'm just letting other people know that might be reading this.
Of course having a twin turbo big block you'd need a rather LARGE intercooler to not have that pressure drop. Then there's the whole problem of having a small thirdgen front end hence no reason for intercoolers.
You guys should try some extra fuel injectors aimed toward the compressor out. Don't aim it with the air flow, aim against. Cornell found more power doing this and they've been working with turbo's on their FSAE cars for years.
Awesome car! Just needs some traction because a twin turbo big block should be faster than high 9's. There are lots of n/a big blocks in the 9's and plenty of turbo v6's in the 9's in G-bodies. Then again when you're in the 9's you're in the 9's . Any faster and you're probably breaking drivetrain parts.

According to wikipedia

1 Swedish hästkraft (hk) and Norwegian and Danish hestekraft (hk) also equals the German Pferdestärke (pk) = 0.73549875 kW

so 1407 kh divided by 0.73549875 = 1034.84674125 kW

According to google

1 kilowatt (kW) = 1.34102209 horsepower (hp)

1034.84674125 kW X 1.34102209 = 1387.7523397807642125 hp

or roughly 1400 hp so in this case the hk rating is very close to a unit for unit hp rating.

This puts his motor above the levels of hp found in F1 cars and in the neighborhood of twin engine off road race cars. His torque is well above any of those, making him the literal king of hp among anything required to make turns...on the ground

Short of reducing the horsepower, or making it into a drag car, what would you propose he do?

I mean because reducing power to half still generates the tire destruction at wot.

HO-LEE... CRAP...

0-60 in just over TWO SECONDS??!?!? That's just over half the time it takes to do 0-60 in the McLaren F1!! Gotta be some serious traction issues there...

Not sure about the ability to plant that power at less than triple-digit speeds, but I know one thing for sure -

It definitely makes the (roughly) 550 HP turbocharged 383 that I'm thinking about seem positively weak...

ummmmm....thats a good question. how about some slicks, one video was a 10sec street tire run. i don't know what to do when turns are involved though, another video was just turn, tire smoke, turn, tire smoke, turn tire smoke. ridiculous, just ridiculous.

Re: Twin Turbo GTA inside...........

What is 16/9?

Big Red set the record of 197.99 in 1989, but lost the record in 2000, to of all things a Chrysler LeBaron!!! But Big Red hasn't been back since.

http://www.silverstateclassic.com/results-07-norc.htm

This years average top speed was only 169.9584 mph, in the 170 class. Only 1 person entered the Unlimited class, and he DNF.

I love this car! It was even mentioned with a small photo in EVO magazine in the UK when they were featuring his friends GM Saloon / Vauxhall Omega with a 1000bhp supercharged Lexus engine.

ZOMBIE POST!!! Oct is the month to bring back the dead, right?

I just found out about this car so I'm reading up on it. Anybody know what happened to it and where it is now?

I had a few questions about it too. I don't like too many types of wheel on a 3rd gen usually, but I just LOVE the looks of these! Does anybody know what these wheels are?

And I've seen similar hoods but this one looks a little different. Anyone know what exactly it is? Who makes it and where I can get one?

Also, is that nose piece custom made or can that be purchased? I think it looks awesome and it would be a functional improvement also.

Holy old thread batman!

The car is still around, I remember reading something recently about it being the fastest street legal car in europe.

Still owned by the builder I think.
Wheels are BBS 9x18" , 12x20"
Hood is a ram air I hood
Front is a stock GTA front with a cutout in the middle, the x-tra lip was put on for the silver state cup.

Looks very interesting. Something about trying to prove the car is faster than an arrow? is my translation right? lol

Hope the show clip makes it online. Post back if you see it online someday.

Lol! I thought the same thing. But the block he used, I think, is the same one top fuel dragsters use to make like 6500+ HP. So he's actually babying the block. And I don't think you can really buy 2nd rate parts to fit that block. I would like to know what crank, rods, etc, that he used for this. And how much he's got into it money wise.

Why hasn't 'Hot Rod' or 'Car Craft' done a write up on this car? This seems to be the definition of what our hobby is all about, to the nth degree!

I think I will try to get one of the editors or writers of those mags on the phone tomorrow and encourage them to cover this car. I would not be surprised if they've never even heard of it!
