What should I do (turbo or super) ???

Hey fellas I just joined this board (should have done long time ago)

I have a 89 TransAm, this is an odd one because it has the 2.8 MPFI V6 in it. I am a 5.7 fan, but cannot find the money for a TransAm in good condition including a 5.7 or larger aftermarket engine.

I do not realy have the space or money or experience to do an engine swap...and winter is comming up too (no I do not drive the TA in the winter, I'm not mean to the car...hehe)

So I am wondering how dificult and expensive it is to add a turbo, twin turbo, or maybe a super to the V6? I often times checked out Procharger.com for their supers, but its quite expensive.

Can anyone give me some guildes on where I can get more info on turbos or maybe find something used in order to save money?

(any help would be appreciated, I hate having a 2.8 in my TA, even though it burns just about every riced out honda I see, I envy the 5.7 GTAs and IROCs going by)

Thanks Fellas,

Dan

Btw, I never even considered Nitro, how difficult and expensive is it to put a nitro system on a 2.8 V6 firebird?

PS: I recently put my car up for sale on Ebay (if no one buys it I will continue to upgrade it, need driveway space, cannot drive in the winter)

go and check out www.turbobuick.com
check out their message boards. they have one for TTA(Turbo TransAm). It was a special edition TransAm that consisted of a turbo v6. They'll know more about boosting a v6.

to start with, there is no such thing as a 2.8L v6 TA. What you have there is a 2.8L firebird that someone put TA bodywork on and from the pictures, a conglomeration of interior parts (either older door pannels or camaro pannels...).

Actually later in the third gen years they were identical to t/a's minus the aero wing and the mesh wheels. your better off trying to sell then waste the money on the 2.8. just my .02

Im sorry to tell you, there were no 2.8 Trans Ams and no 2.8 had 190 horse. Few heavily modded 2.8's will spit out that much power.
