T bird turbo TPI?

OK..I'm kinda new to all this. I did a search and find some bits and pieces of info, but can anybody shed some light on this for me?

You can hook a t-bird turbo up to a TPI motor? Is this a difficult task? Does it involve a lot of modification? This sounds like an awesome mod as long as its cost effective. I'm looking for some extra oomph for a low investment.

thanks

Single turbo... no. A single turbo will flow about the same as a v-8 and tops out at about 300hp, so you won't get any boost.

Twins, yes.

Is it easy... depends. If you're asking the question you probably don't have the ablility to fabricate the parts necessary, if you're going to pay someone to do it for you I would expect to pay $5000+

Actually, my dads a machinist and he could probably fabricate whatever I need. One turbo should put out around 6 lbs of boost, thats not enough? I wouldnt be looking for more than 50-60 hp.

I guess my real question is, if you have the parts needed, is it easier(and cheaper) than installing a supercharger or nitrous?

Boost is a measure of restriction. Thats all. Just because a turbo makes 6 psi on a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder doesn't mean its going to make 6psi on a 5 liter V-8. A turbo is a compressor, its only going to flow so much air, and the size of it tells you the maximum output your engine can make.
If you're looking for only 50-60 HP don't bother. It's not cheaper or easier than nitrous, and not as easy as a supercharger (cheaper maybe). If you're only looking for that small of a power increase then just do some engine mods.

I guess you have a point. I though there was some "magical" match-up between the tbird turbo and the TPI motor since a lot of people seem to be using them.

I've taken my car as about as far as it can go with bolt ons. I guess a cam, heads, and then maybe nitrous will be the most cost effective way for me to go.

thanks

Actually, the T-Bird is a 2.3L 4 banger which uses a T03 turbo, which is too small for a 305 or a 350. Two of them would probably be enough, however.
