not thrid gen, but nitrous

i have a sand rail(dune buggy) it has a 1835 stroker engine, very fast, prolly runs 5.5 sec 0-60. but i am addicted to speed, so i am trying to get a nitrous kit set up for it. but i am just wondering how much it costs to fill a 10lbs bottle every time. and how many times can you use it before it needs to be refilled. i will only run about 50hp shot. but on a 1100lbs pound dunebuggy( that includes me) you will be hulling azz. thanks guys!!!:lala:

You can expect to pay between $30-50 to fill a 10 lbs. bottle depending on where your at. The going rate most everywhere I go is $3 a pound. How long it will last depends on how big of a shot you are running and how long you spary it on a run. A 50 HP shot burns like 2 lbs a minute I think.

a 50 hp shot would be recommended on an engine under 2 liters. You must understand that nitrous use should be limited to around 15 seconds or less "burst" use. the only people that use nitrous for longer than that are land speed cars and they either use very sophisticated (read expensive) engine management or they abide by the "burst" rule too. I say 50 hp because unless you run a Scat block, your stud inserts could pull out of the block. Some V'dubs run a bigger shot but the engine must have the stud inserts welded or seriously attatched to the case and they are mostly perpose built drag or sand/mud draggers (real short bursts of NOS)

Nothing to offer on nitrous use for smaller engines, but I pay $2.18/lb for nitrous. The shop usually charges $2.49/lb for most people though.
