350 T.P.I Procharher w/D-1 15-20P.S.I Boost
350 T.P.I Procharher w/D-1 15-20P.S.I Boost
I have a 1988 IROC-Z with a 305 T.B.I curretny. I also have a 350 T.P.I enigne with harness & ecm & everything, I am doing the swap when I am done building the motor. The guy who is building it for me is aiming for a minimum of 450HP. I am also looking to buy the Procharger kit with D1 for the 350 T.P.I Motor that runs 15-20 P.S.I boost & has a 3-core intercooler. It says it gives a minimum of 85% Increase in horsepower. I am wondering iof anyone has this set-up in there car or knows anything about this set up & what there thaughts are?
Thanks.....

bye bye new motor...
unless you build the motor to handle that much boost then you'll go nowhere fast.

it probably wont blow your motor's pistons, because of the known safety feature for protecting them. Its called blown head gaskets. But dont bet on it.

I actually hope to build an engine similar to what your speaking of. Friend of mine is running an engine he built to run 18lbs of boost. It's 8.5:1 compression, all forged components, oringed block, at this moment he's only running 12lbs boost, and recently ran 9.55 at 145 in a 3500 lb car on pumped gas. If your engine is built to take the boost then you won't have any problems. But don't bolt on 15-20lbs of boost on a stock bottom end and expect it to take it.
I am not sure as of yet what he will be doing to the motr internally. But he is setting it up for what the supercharger will need / motor to take the abuse.
He also mentioned that I should throw a nitrous kit aswell. Now when I first talked to him, he said it would be no problem, and he would build the motor to take more than what this supercharger & nitrous will give it.
Not only that, This kit is intended for the 5.7T.P.I 88-92 Camaro Only. I dont think the company would make this kit if the 350 wouldnt be able to take it, and yes I do know that the engine does have to be built better then stock, but it should be able to take it no problem if the engine is built correctly.

yes you will be able to run more boost safely but when you get down below 9.1-1 many people say that your throttle response starts to suffer. I have no experience because i have not used anything under a 9.1-1 ratio. I would say run 8.7-9.1-1 and used forged internals. my best advice is this, do it right the first time and not have to worry about it later. save yourself the hassle of blowing a brand new motor and built it right and it should last you long enough.
