supercharger Q
is there a bare kit made for our TPI motors that compares to the vortec A trim for mustangs. i know of a guy who bought one brand new for $1800 or something and it is supposed to get 6 psi. All i will need for a supercharger to work will be brackets, pulleys, belt and head unit. i can tune it for the rest. can anyone help me out here? thx

Nope.. the SC itself will be around 1800.00, then you gotta buy brackets and stuff.. Just how it works.

I think what he is reffering to is the Atrim kit offered by vortech. the mustang ones are $1900 complete, I believe they will do it for the TPI kit for the same price. the down side of this whole deal is that all you get is an A-trim for a head unit (vortech is trying to get rid of the last of them) but the kit is as complete as the other kits. I have heard of, and seen a few successful built cars with a trim's. They are a bit smallish in the boost department and kinda limited in the "max hp" producable department. But when I first started modding 3rd gens all there was were the **** ant paxtons (early SN series) and then the vortech came along and blew it away. My friend made his otherwise totally stock (gears, slicks, 30# SVO injectors, and no cat) 89 5.7 iroc go 12's here at bandemere (6000 ft!) in 1990 or 91 with one during its only trip to the track.

Im running an A-trim.. at 5,500rpm I get 8psi, 12psi at 6,500
(with the 3.33 pully, and 8inch crank pully, with the STOCK 3.45 I got like 6psi at 6,000RPM)..
I'd considered trading in for a S-trim, they give a $900.00 credit, and the s-trim is $1,900.00, but I'm thinking of spray. I don't want
that much boost _ALL_ the time, but sometimes I wanna punch. So a 50-75 shot would put me where I wanna be.
You can buy _just_ the bracket assembly & fmu for the thirdgen for $1000.00 from vortech.. I imagine they prolly have a cheap A-trim bundle as well..
Just keep in mind, more boost with vortech, more heat. No intercooler.

6-8 PSI sounds ideal for what i want...and so does the price of roughly $2000. I will be also spraying a small shot of nitrous on it as well. Right now, I am just throwing around ideas. but by summer i would like to be supercharged. thanks for the replies
