Mech. Fuel pump prob.

I put a new Holley mech. pump on and turn the motor over and I don't feel any air moving when I plug the holes with my fingers. And the plunger arm on the pump is 1/8 shorter than my old one. Should I be able to feel anything when plugging the holes with this particular pump, or will it pump fine once I get gas to it or do I need to get a longer plunger? This is suppose to be a stock replacement pump only better. Summit part # HLY-12-327-11. I'm also using stainless braided fuel line to my carb and was wondering what would be a good fuel filter with -AN fittings. And yes the plunger is on the pump. I'm tired of taking it on and off. Do they make longer rods for these? Thanks.

Nevermind. It works. I took that damn thing off and on about 50 F*^&*(&%ing times. I expected to feel something at least, some kind of air movement when I turned it over, but noooo. So I ran the lines anyway and poured gas into the carb and started many fires and almost gave up and took it off again, started to walk into the house in disgust then turned around and gave it one more shot. 2 more fires later it worked. Thank Gad. I'm so close I can taste it. Bonnet should be here tomorrow.
