Superchargers

I was thinking of down the road getting a supercharger for my 86 Trans Am 350 TPI. Its mostly stock except for a mild cam, custom chip, muffler and high flow cat. I dont exactly know wich supercharger would be good for me. I dont want a loud one but one that produces a lot of power without having to get a new hood and all that. What kind of supercharger should i get? Also is it hard on your engine? The shop that is did the custom chip says i would probably go through 1 motor every 2 or 3 years if i drive it hard. Is that true? Thanks in advance!

I'll let others give specific blower recommendations (I know Powerdyne makes a real quiet belt driven one, but they don't seem to be in favor these days). What I will say is that it's AWFULLY hard to keep your foot out of the boost. That's 90% of the reason supercharged engines don't live as long. The other 10% is that the engine isn't built right for a blower or tuned right for a blower.

BTW- good luck trying to find a blower kit that works with the weirdo 86-87 v-belts + serpentine belt system. Your first expense will be to convert over to an 88-up full serpentine system so you can even buy a blower kit that will fit on.
