twin turbo v8 s-10
twin turbo v8 s-10
I'm going to buy a new car soon. I'm thinking about buying a newish s-10 in good condition with a 4 banger in it. Drive that around are then swap in a ttsbc with a 700r4. I've had alot of experience working with turbo's mostly my turbo dsm and alot of experience working on all my friends camaro's/chevy trucks. I'm thinking this could be a bad *** ride considering how light the s-10 truck is. Think it would work, enough space.

I've seen on around here, the guy brings it to the local cruise nights every so often during the winter. Pretty sick ride, but absolutely crammed under the hood. Definitely cool and unique so good luck and have a blast if you do it.
I was thinking about something similar to this...
I'd start with a 4x4 S-10 though. I'd get the transfer case out of a Bravada or AWD Astro... lower it and have AWD to put all that power to the ground. I'd start with the 4.3 instead of the 4cyl. I'm pretty sure the bell housing on the 4.3 is the same as the Small block chevy so you could use the tranny that comes in the truck... I think the motor mounts are the same also between the 4.3 and V8 (you would want to verify that) .

the main reason for s-10 is the lightness and the newer models. I've done the old car thing just too much time and money and rust drives me CRAZY. probably end up buying a 4 banger and put in a healthy small block, just have a bunch of turbo parts laying around and am playing with the idea.

considering the tight fit of engine bay and the room required to TT a V6 camaro SC (sports coupe) might be more ideal. The one I built with T56, 9", 355 EFI, NOS weighed only 2800 lbs afterwords and ran 11.90's on 435 RWHP
There was one with a TT ls1 in it at the Detroit autorama last year. I think it was the same one in Chevy High Performance magazine a while ago built by Lingenfelter it was awd and ran 10s while still looking pretty stock!

I had an 86 S10 Blazer with a healthy 350, holley 650 carb, weiand stealth intake, mild cam ( dont know the specs because I bought it like that ) dual Flowmaster with dumps, 2.5 piping, Zexel Torsen 3.42 out back, polished heads, 700R4 with a B&M shift kit and B&M Light Truck Megashifter...it ran low 14's all day long....it amazed many people that didn't know what was under the hood, I think the 2.8 Fuel Injection label under the drivers headlight threw them off

as for your TT questions, ask for scott here:

on employee vehicles his S-10 is there. It had a 4.3L bowtie block with ONE turbo running high 9s in street trim. He told me he could build my SS S-10 to 10s on pump gas for me. I will do it in about a year. This would be daily driver reliability too.
He also does GN motor swaps into S10s and I believe that is what is going into his white S10 next.
