100hp shot or maby less??

here is my setup:

350 bored .030 over
stock rods and crank
block is decked .010
882 heads, shaved .030 off and full P&P
cast pistons with 4 valve reliefs
preformer RPM intake
Holley street advenger 670cfm carb.
and a cam that has a total lift of .480

some people say that I will blow up using cast pistons and not forged, but I seen some people use NOS on totally stock engine with a lot of miles on the motor. mine is compleaty redone with 0 miles. so if you guys have any suggestions on how much of a shot I can safely use.

I've seen lots of guys running a 100hp shot on a stock motor w/ 100,000+ miles on it. just make sure you got a good fuel system and maybe think bout a MSD box and good wires and colder plugs.

I agree, I run a 100HP kit with no problems.

thanx for the info guys. also how much should I retard the timing? I read somewhere that from a 75 shot - 150 shot a total of 2* would be enouf.

General rule of thumb is 2* retard for each 50hp. I am running a 150hp shot on a stock L98 with over 120k miles. Full timing, no probs.

As already mentioned, make sure your ignition system is up to par. You should also run spark plugs 1 to 2 ranges cooler.

What brand and number plug are you running, I am not sure how to figure out or ask for a colder plug, is there a rule on how to do this?
