A-trim Vortechs are now worth ???
I found somone with an un-used un-run A-trim.
He wants like $550 for it, maybe less. its just the charger, no brackets or anything. I know Vortech will take it as a trade in and give you like $700 credit, but I dont know if i really want a vortech. I like the idea of intercooling... but prochargers are what.. $3500? I could essentially fabricate a bracket for the thing though, but I would need a pulley setup and belt from vortech i suppose...
i guess what im asking is that vortech worth the trouble? I've searched and it seems the A-trims are old technology, that it would be a waste.

They are not good for much boost. Maybe 6-10 at most. You could always buy it, make your bracket, get the pulley set-up, and use an aftermarket intercooler. Just a thought.
This one on ebay is at $535 right now.

IMO, I dislike the sharp elbow on the compressor.

I have been doing thirdgens for a while now and I have seen some pretty fast cars running a-trims back in the day. the base kit for procharger (P600B or P-1sc) only run around 9 # anyhow. In 1990, at bandemere speedway, my friend's 89 5.7 iroc ran 12.20's at 5000 ft with nothing but hollowed cats, 30# SVO injectors, slicks, and an a trim. we thought that was incredible. The crazy thing was the belt slipped terribly on every run because we couldnt tighten the bracket (no tools). Vortech sells the whole blower kit minus the head unit for every application they have. you could buy this, add the head unit and go to town.
