MSD universal BTM gives bouncy tach idle

I have a MSD universal BTM installed on my 1991 TA 305 HEI system. I get a bouncing tach at idle. It seems to smooth out while driving.

I know it is not a strictly tach failure as when I hook up my Jacob's Pro Street instead of the stock coil, the tach works fine.

If anyone has experienced this please let me know.

No answers yet. If I don't get any info tonight, I will make a call to MSD tomorrow and let you know.

Got my Jacob's back on and the idle rpm is fine.

I am betting it is a filter issue and the Jacob's computer provides the necessary filer for the BTM.
