did you get a rebuild kit with a new seal and plunger?
its not the solenoid thats messed up, not the workings as least. smoebody screwed up the wiring and burned it up, hoping i could re-wire it instead of sendin it in.

you just need a new coil. That can be changed without even removing the selenoid. it can be tested too, how do you know its bad, visible burning? how do you wire one wrong enough to damage it, do you have something higher than 12 volts on your car? were you missing a ground on the engine and it grounded through it with too much current?
i cant see any damage. it was on a friend's car and he messed up the wiring. it was blowing fuses everytime he hit the button, and once it purged for a second then stopped, and nothing after that.

usually it is the wiring, usually related to running the nirous system with all the current going through the tiny switch instead of a relay but not always
