NOS and 5 speed. When to activate?

I am considering adding a 50 HP NOS shot to my 1991 TA 5 speed with ProCharger.

Since I am running a 5 speed when is the best time to activate the NOS?

I am looking at Compucar and you need to flip a switch to activate it. I hear that NOS (Holley) has a WOT activation switch.

I am figuring that I will probably want the manual switch option and activate it at 3rd or 4th gear when I know the RPM's will be kept high (2500 RPM +) with a minimal drop during shifting.

Any experienced NOS users please let me know.

Thanks.

Also, what should be in a kit as a minimum (purge valve, NOS heater, NOS pressure gauge, etc.)

well, I've got a T-5 in mine and I've been wanting to get a nitrous system. I know for a fact that your rpms will NEVER drop below 2500 when you are going to be spraying no matter what gear you are in. I plan on spraying in 2nd-4th gear. I will use a WOT throttle switcht with a toggle arming switch within reach of the shifter, also will have a purge valve to make sure there is no hesitation. leave the switch off in 1st, make a good launch, hit 2nd and hold on.

*oh yeah, I'll also have a window switch to spray only above 3000 rpm and shutoff about 100 rpm before my shift point so I dont accidently over-rev and blow things up.

Thanks.

What jets will you be running?

Do you have an aftermarket ignition?

I would highly recomend a WOT switch. They are very nice in a manual car. Just make sure it only activates at WOT. That way you'll only have to lift the pedal a 1/4" of the floor to shift.

I dont think you want to ever be spraying during a shift. Even though the RPM's dont drop below 2500RPM the motor still goes lean.

1) Make sure you run a wet kit.. If the procharger uses an fmu, you better get a safety switch on the fuel line so it only engages n20 when it's @ your jet rate.. (i.e, 55psi, whatever).

2) You can go with the WOT switch.
