What is considered to be the best head and cam combo for a 1989 350 L98? I have a .030 over 350 with good rods and forged pistons. I plan to use a 150 hp nitrous system also. I only "fun" drive this car so I'm not interested in gas mileage or emissions. I'm switching to a carb and I want to make these changes at the same time. The car is caged and has frame connectors. I want a good sound and good mid range and top end power. Anybody using roller cams on the street? Roller rockers? Thanks, Jimmy

 

If you wanted to stay with a 23 degree head I would personally do a set of Brodix Track 1 23 degree heads from www.weldtech.com or AFR 210cc race ported heads. I've heard great stuff about both and they're on the "serious" side of making power on a street car.

If you wanted to raise the bar a little you could do larger 18 degree heads with a matching intake but cost would probably go up as would horsepower

Once you choose the heads, call comp cams and see what they reccomend. Maybe give them flowbench numbers from the heads you decide on. A roller cam for sure with full roller rockers but depending on the RPM range you are looking for, comp cams will set you up with either a hydraulic roller cam or a solid roller with solid lifters.
