You probably didn't get an answer yet to this post because it's not worded well. Add in that nitrous is all over the message board and a search would lead to all your answers... and responses get slower.
305s are not known for being the best at nitrous, however, nothing your dad can say will determine if it'll blow up. Nitrous is safe when used correctly.
I would recommend 100 shot for starters. Retard timing 1-2 degrees and maybe a colder plus. Check nitrous company recommendations. Your ignition needs to be in good shape, and your fuel system needs to be in good condition. Nitrous is rarely the problem when engines fail. It's ignition or not enough fuel which leads to detention.
On 100 shot, I really don't think a new fuel pump is needed, be sure to use a wet shot as well. I'm not sure which supplier you've choosen.
Cams? You can run a stock cam. If you want to change your cam your welcome to. Of course there are nitrous cams... but for a 305 TPI on 100 shot, it's not worth the time.
No problems on your powertrain. Your not going to break anything so don't worry. There are plenty of 350s running 150 shots on slicks and holding up just fine. Your 305 isn't going to be a problem.
Hope that helps you
