what precautions shoudl i take when looking at a car with nitrous on it???

or shoudli not touch it?

its an 86 iroc with a 350 tpi putin and a t-5 also. origionally 305 auto i believe.. think the kid said that it is adjustable form 75-125... 100k on engine and 1,000 on rebuilt tranny with new clutch...

i think my biggest conserns at this point is

1- the car has Nitrous oxide, how do i know it was put on right/managed well and not abused...
2- t-5 behind a 350 with NOS , tranny strong enough?

This is a time when you must balance value of parts vs. novelty vs. what do you have left if the engine goes (value wise).

he is asking 3500, its an 86 iroc with a 350 swapped in and a t-5 swapped in... 100k on engine 100k on rebuilt tranny and new clutch... apparently he says that he or the p.o. never used it, but it was instanned by the one before that.... but who knows, he said he jsut took it on a 250 mi trip and had no problems....

the other think i don't lik eis that he said on this trip he got 17.8 mpg... that seems pretty low to me, i like to say that my v-8 gets about 25 mpg.....

I would steer clear as you never really know if the car was abused or not. But if you are interested in the car I would recommend you do a compression check before handing over any money. I would also check the oil (look for metal shavings).

 

what v8 of yours gets 25 mpg?? i don't imagine it's a worked motor thats around 14 or 15 years old? 17.8 is plenty for a performance v8 in my opinion. My 350 hp, 356 tpi gets like 21 mpg on the highway. 15 when i drive granny and 12 when i drive normal. i dont even want to know what my average fast driving mpg is.
