Nitrous experts please- Alternative to progressive nitrous systems?

Ok this is kind of complicated, so here goes.

It all stemmed from an idea I had to create a progressive nitrous system that didnt pulse the solenoids (as often) as the NOS, Jacobs, or NX systems would. I just dont like the idea of pulsing nitrous solenoids.

So here is the plan. I already have the nos cheater system, I plan on buying the upgrade to the Dual shot cheater (adds two powershot solenoids and all the plumbing to plumb 4 solenoids into the cheater spray bar).

This is my idea:
2 window switches, 4 nitrous solenoids.
1st window switch: would be set from 3,000rpm to 6,000rpm. It would control the first 100 horsepower (or whatever power level) by turning on the first 2 cheater solenoids.
2nd window switch: would be set from 4800rpm to 6,000rpm (or whenever in the rpm band you want the 2nd progression of nitrous to occur). It would be set to an additional 75 horsepower (totalling 175 additional horsepower) by turning on the second set of solenoids (powershot noids).

This would make a nitrous system that would run a 100 horsepower nitrous shot from 3,000 rpm to 4,800 rpm, and it would progress to a 175 shot from 4,800 rpm to 6,000 rpm, where the nitrous flow would stop until the next shift, when it would drop back down to 100 horsepower until again the 4,800 rpm mark is hit when it would again progress to a 175 shot.

My question:
The NOS dual shot kit is designed to run only one set of solenoids at the same time. In other words, when you hit the second "stage" of nitrous, it shuts the first 2 solenoids off and turns on the 2nd set of solenoids. Why is this? Is it because of amperage draw, or is it some other reason I am not considering?

i donno how the other NOS system behaves, but your idea can be made to work..
athough it wouldnt be progressive... it would be a regular 2 stage system.

I guess I am calling it an alternative to progressive. The reason I dont like the nos 2 stage system is because of the way they want you to wire it. They want the first stage on a WOT switch and the second stage on the push of a button, which shuts the first stage off. It just doesnt seem like it would be smooth power.

Can't see why it couldn't be done just like you want it. Sounds like a pretty cool setup, actually. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks . I will let you guys know when it is functional. I am just trying to think of any dire mistakes I could make. I really just want to know why NOS makes their dual shot so that it only uses two solenoids at a time.

The reason it is done that way is because of the pressure drop on
on the nitrous side. You will have to adjust the 'second stage'
nos/fuel ratio. You also will need to take more timing out when
you activate the second system. Standard nos tune ups are not
for 2 stage systems. (two bottles won't get you there either)
Bottle pressure drop is your freind in high gear. (a/f goes fat)
on that long pull through the quarter. The ideal 2 stage tune up is
to activate them as close together as possible. On race cars this
is usually done within 1/2 second. If you do not have a lot of
nos experience you are better of with 1 big system than 2 smaller
ones.

Always run the smaller shot on the first stage. The cylinder pressure will drop once you get into the higher rpms. Also, it'll be easier to hook up once you get moving. If you can hook a 100 shot out the hole, then I say put a 125 on the second stage and have some real fun.
