9.4 with a Stock ECM

While it wasn't a 3rd Gen, it was with a drivetrain very similar to the 89 TTA. ie it was a 87 GN.

It used the stock ecm with the injector drivers changed, and the code was modified to allow use of a MAP sensor instead of being MAF.
There's been at least one other, GN do a 9.9 with a MAF system.

But, the point I'm trying to make is that with proper reworking, an oem ecm can go pretty quick.

And the kicker to this, was that it was with the default settings. The code had been run and fully developed on an ecm bench, based on past info., and then finely tuned on the bench. So when it was installed in the car it was pretty much a known, vs having to spend alot of time, and risk engine parts.

Less then a 90%DC, and all the tweaks were in place for like MAT corrections. So now based on EGTs, WB, and plug readings he can tune for weather, or crank up the boost.

While folks can go fast with just running injectors static. The downside to that is as the injector is changing pulse widths to go static, they can get erratic, and momentarily go lean. Which just ain't a good thing.

Granted it took doing one's homework, and took time, but for some that's more of an option then $3K for an aftermarket.
