blower questions

I want to add a weiand 142 blower to my 305 TBI camaro.. serpentine belt.

I know i need the 4" hood for clearance, my questions are, will the tbi mount right on top? and I was thinking of switching to TPI, if so, will TPI be fine as well?

and of coarse the final question, this will switch over to a 350 when I get that built as well, correct?

Usually with those blowers you just bolt up a carb to them. Their more of a blower than compressor, so they pull the air and fuel through the carb. You could do one with fuel injection, but I still don't see a point of going to TPI. The idea behind superchargers/turbos/blowers is to get the intake space as small as possible since it's going to be forced induction there is little worrying about extra runner space for low end tq. You want the small intake area also because the unit will have to fill up that empty area before the boost finally hits the valves on the heads.

For an idea of a TBI mounted on top check out this post https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ots+blower+tbi it has a blower mounted on top of a TPI which might look cool but isn't very efficent. It would take extra fabrication also.

So really you would be money ahead if you got a nice blower and intake and forgot about a TPI unit. Like this a simple blower and intake setup like this with a carb http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...SCK/f6523.html

You could add fuel injection on one but that would take a kit like one offer'd from BDS which mounts fuel injectors on each side after a carb then you would have to program a new computer to run the fuel injectors.

can i just mount the stock TBI on it then? and isnt TBI basically the same thing as carburated?

also keep in mind I live in cali and have to pass emissions with this.

also, i would need the shortnose aka less nose version as well correct?

Well I'm willing to bet it would take a special adapter plate, no clue really I haven't ever seen a tbi unit bolt pattern (Mine's TPI and the new 383 is carb). Main thing to remember is you will make more power so you need more air and fuel for that new power.

check out this post https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ght=tbi+blower

In it they talk about a tbi weiand/holley blower that might be more what you're looking for or convert a regular one over.

you will need an adaptor plate. holley makes one.

you will need to get the extra fuel there, the TBI computer wont' know you are getting boost. you will probably need a FMU for this.

you will need a new fuel pump.

you will probably need bigger injectors, and then tune accordingly. i don't think the stockers will take the pressure you are going to be giving them to fuel the motor.
