blower question

is it possible to get a tall intake manifold and get a blower and just mount it ontop of the carb with the airfilter inside the blower? like a blower without a supercharger.

are you talking about the lil scoop that some people put on supercharged cars??

if so, yea, they bolt on any carb, and most dual carb manifold...

the scoop isnt anything special, just a fancy looking air cleaner.

I think you my be right MrDude. I thought that maybe he was looking to make a fake blower that would sit over the top of the carb and intake like the Falcon in the movie Mad Max.

insayne: are you talking about a butterfly scoop? If so, then yes they make ones that bolt on top of your carb.

That blower setup was not a fake. It was made by a company in NJ that put a electromagnetic clucth on a 6-71 blower. I guess i'm old as there was a ton of right ups about it when the movie came out but the company never produced any.

The fake enderle injector hat is made by Mr Gasket, it is called a 'Street scoop'

Hmm, go figger? I was always told It was fake. Plus I've seen a few hallow blowers on show cars and thought the mad max piece was the same. Thanks for the info! do you know of any web sites so I can read up on it?

It couldn't have created a whole lot of boost. Maybe thats why they didn't bother to produce any others.

There wasn't a internet back then! Why would it not create boost? 6-71 blowers that are not stripped usually will build about 8lbs of boost. If you have a roots blower on your car and take the belt off it will still run. The rotors will turn from the incoming air. It may not run good without the blower making boost but it will run. I don't think there was a market for it. it looked cool but why would you want one?. Kenny Bernstiens old crew chief Dale armstrong also made one for fuel cars so they could leave the line without boost then bring it on, but NHRA killed it right away.

the eatons have a bypass... so at anything other then near WOT, it will run the same.... once you hit WOT, the bypass will shut, and it will attempt to suck all the air thru the blower...

First, read the board rules… your sig should be limited to 400x100 or 5 lines maximum.

Second, I don’t think that anyone really understands your question. We've made some guesses… FWIW, a blower is a supercharger, making a blower without a supercharger impossible.

Third, eaton blowers spin up pretty well with no belt. We've driven around with the belt off on my brother's M90 blown car and the thing whined almost as much with the throttle open as it did without the belt.
