D1SC or P1SC?

I currently have a paxon sn2000 pushing 8lbs of boost. It needs to be rebuilt. Now, when the paxon is working, wow! 8psi makes my car hard to drive! NO TRACTION! I have just put a new motor in which has a ZZ4 cam, AFR 190 heads, Ported intake with slp runners, ford svo 24lb injectors, headman headers, and flowmaster cat back system.

Now I have the opportunity to get a P1sc used which will run me about 2400 to get the system complete. Should I buy a used unit for less cash? Or get a new one? It has 10K miles on it. OR should I purchase a new kit?

Also, when I put my paxton on my car, it is really hard to drive! no traction what so ever! Just way too much power! LIke I said, my paxton put's out 8lbs of boost. That being said, Will the P1sc have enough umph with my mods? Or should I spend the extra cash and get the D1sc? I know that with the D1sc, I can run less boost and get quicker boost and more cfm = less heat, more efficient power, and more life from teh charger in contrast to teh P1sc.

Just looking for some direction.

If you're like most of us, there is no such thing as having enough power. I have a feeling that if you settle for the P1SC and you get used to your newfound power, you'll still want more. That means having to sell the P1SC to buy the D1SC. Based on this, I say pay the extra now and go directly to the D1SC. It will save you money in the long run and you'll have more power from the very beginning...... That's my distorted way of looking at this, but I'm a kind of distorted guy.... my wife still loves me though.... married 20 years this August...

I too, have highest respect for those who can even manage past five years. I saw on the news the other night that 60 percent of marriages in Arizona end in divorce. That just goes to show you that singles today think of this so-called "eternal bond" as "something to try and if it doesn't work, no big deal"..... disgusting in my book. Now, back to the subject at hand>>

Go for the D1SC!!! You won't regret it. I promise you this. I went from an SN2000 to the D1SC and I could not believe the difference.

OMG! I laughed my **** off! On my batchelor party, my buddies took me to a comedy show. We are of the kind who respect our future wives and do not go to the strip clubs Anyway, after that chansaw link, I wish I had this moment on video! All comedians were ripping on me and aksed me what I liked and dislike about my wife. Well my dislike is that of most women. The chaninsaw nagging! I was on stage and was doing my impression of a wife nagging like a chansaw. Guess ya had to be there, sorry had to rant! I did pull my sn2000 apart and everything looks fine except the output shaft. I'm gonna replace that and see if I can fix it.

Can the D1SC be used with a lower pulley...somewhere in the range of 8-10 psi?

I think so. If I remember right, Willie was pushing 6psi initially on his d1sc??? he compared it with his paxton.

Well I have to wait to put mine on.Building new engine now
and must run it without the D1SC for 500-800 miles before
the procharger goes in.

To my knowledge,

4.00" pulley = 10#'s of boost (largest pulley offered with the D1sc)

These numbers are on a stock engine, any modification to remove restriction from the intake and cylinder heads will lower the amount of boost from the same pulley.

Might I add to Larry's statement that the 4.00" pulley equals 10 pounds of boost on a stock 350. You'll get more on a 305 due to less volume required to fill.

Over the last 2 weeks I have been trying to decide which route to go with the initial modifications on my 88 IROC. My 2 choices were heads, intake, cam,etc vs a procharger system. I finally decided to go with a D1SC Stage II procharger system with a 3 core intercooler. Any suggestions about who has the best prices on this kit? Also, I am going to run the charger at the 10-12 psi boost range initially. What are you thoughts on the stock transmission holding up? Are there any mods (corvette style servo, shift improver kit, etc) that can easily be made to improve the chances of the tranny lasting?

Jason,

Shop around and compare prices. Then contact Dave Back at Tenacious Performance:

dback@tenperf.com

Tell him I sent you his way. He's worked with me on several ATI parts and has given me (by far) the best prices. He also has exclusive "rights" to sell the twin IC setup I designed (with ATI) in lieu of the single core IC. Most importantly, he's excellent on customer service after the sale.

Yeah I have the 4.25" pulley on my stock 305 and it's making 9.5-9.8 psi at 5,500rpm.
