I am getting a custom 350 fthat a buddy of mine is building for me. It will have around 425 horsepower. Do you guys recommend a supercharger or a turbo?

 

This motor is going to make 425 horses without n/a? I'm not entirely sure you would want anything added. You should find out compression ratio's and other factors. Most engines making that much power n/a have some higher compression than would be desireable.

well for a turbo or supercharger, I've always been under the notion that 8.5:1 is the highest you would want to go. BUT, that is just what I have read, not what I have done. I have never had a turbo or SC car.

 

I agree, you should find out the compression first. Its sounds like it has at least 10:1. I mean you could run some boost from either a sc or a turbo, but not much, unless the engine is bullet proof. I have seen some crazy motors with 10:1 running 20 lbs. of boost. But thats completly forged, with the best brand parts.

 

as others said. If the motor is already built find out comp. 1st.
if its not built and you want to go SC or turbo start researching on everything now.

depending on how much boost you want to run Stick with in the 8:1-9.5:1 range
