I seem to remember something about one from years ago and then another "purple?" one from just recently, with a bunch of stereo crap in it.

although it looks real cool doesn't seem worth it. its gotta take a lot more HP to turn 2 of em rather than 1 large one

Exactly...those old ball drive units took a lot of grunt to turn...That setup was only netting like 12 psi *twirl finger* but it was just cool looking for a show car.... Paxton used to make those kits for mustangs too...Those were made back before there was a such thing as a high boost centrifugal supercharger...

I showd against that car back in November of '02 at the Las Vegas Super Chevy Show. That twin paxton setup is a for "show only" deal. If memory serves me right the car didn't even run. A nice car nun the less.

If you guys are talking about the same car (twin Paxton, flip flop grean color), it was shown on PRH TV a while back, running down the street lighting up the tires at speed… for something that doesn’t run it shure ran…

Twin blowers will draw more power if your at the bottom end of their useful range, but past that could actually be more efficient then a larger blower (depends on the blower(s)).

Those twin superchargers are really neat looking, but it begs a question: Why not use twin turbos instead? It looks as if you could actually package a TT system easier, would look just as wild, and would have even more power potential. Twin turbos would probably be cheaper as well, especially since you are dealing with a lot of fabrication to mount the RH SC anyway. Maybe its just because I prefer my boost without a belt (esp 2 belts)!

i don't see the point of that setup the boost the driver side one is making is fed into the pass. said one, i just don't see the gains in something like that

He first built one supercharger from an old huge Turbo and the gearbox from an electrical wheelchair.

Because of the smaller diamerer of the compressor wheel ( Compared to Vortech and other superchargers ) he needs more RPM to make the same boost. Higher rpm kills the bearings too fast so he built another supercharger to keep the rpms down and still make more boost.

More pictures here too:

That is the coolest "lets see if we can do it" project I have ever seen. People that ask "why?" have no clue as to how hard it is to come up with some kinds of components over seas. Hotrodding over seas looks different because hot rodding is about doing something with what you can easily get, or what you have lying around.

Think of it this way, you are on a desert island, with nothing but plenty of gas and old volvo parts laying around, are you going to build a chevy?

Wow. I didn't realize the theory behind that. Now that you say he used old turbos instead of off-the-shelf superchargers, it makes perfect sense. Very impressive. I should have looked a little closer, maybe I would have seen that myself. I still prefer the exhaust driven supercharger though!

How hard would it be to mount a old school Eaton type setup S/C in place of the intake on a TPI or LT1?? I love the look of it, but can only find one for LS1's and older cars......

Nothing old school about the eaton blowers, they’re a modern design, much more efficient then the old school roots types, but not as efficient as screw blowers.

i have to admit the look is nice, but owning a vortech on my wifes car and haveing a turbo on mine i just see too many problems trying to dial those things in and make a efficient display of power. its hard enough to get one supercharger dialed in with your injectors and setup, but two would just be a pain in the ***, especially if your not gonna at least run 15-20 lbs of boost to offset all that hardware that you are spinning with your crankshaft.

Does anyone have a compressor map of the
'charger being discussed in this thread?
