i have solenoid 16080 and its not working. i think the coil is bad in it but just wanted to verify before i bought another one. it doesnt click at all even when i hook it up to the battery directly. and i get a readind of 23.3 ohms of resistance when i hook up the voltmeter. so is the coil dead?

 

If you hooked up one wire to 12v and the other to a good ground and it didn't click, then take the noid apart and see if anything looks funky inside. Loose connection, corrosion, etc. If it looks good, then I would suspect the coil.
