1980 Turbo Trans AM parts swap
I know that the old turbo Trans AM is not the motor that one would use for a swap. But, would the turbo and manifolds work on a 305 HO motor? I know it wont just bolt on, I was wondering if the turbo could be used and the manifolds could be modified to fit on. What would be needed to make this work besides $$$?
Thanks guys,,,

not claiming to be an expert about this, but i'm gonna say no.
that was a pontiac motor, so the exhaust is completely different
not to mention that is a way outdate design, and really wasn't good.
then again it was used on one of ponitacs worst motors lol

Neither the exhaust or intake manifolds will work on a Chevy engine without MAJOR modifications. It would be faster, cheaper and less frustrating to make these from "scratch" or buy from someone who makes turbo 3rd gen parts.
The turbo itself was a little undersized for the 301 motor. Not unlike the TPI manifold for Chevy, the Pontiac 301 turbo was set up to perform for low RPM operation (below 4500). If you're setting up your engine for this type of operation, the 301 turbo might be reasonable for what you want to do. It all depends (like so many things) on your particular combination and what it's designed to do......
