Time for Boost! TPI SC's
Ive read up about centrifugal SC's, but now I need to know what ones are good and what ones are not so good. Ive heard people say stay away from Paxton, and ATI's all seem very expensive. So mabey a Vortech?
Im looking to spend up to $1500, new or used.
Id prefer a self-contained one, but dosent have to be
Want to run 8-9PSI
And do some brands make the winding sound more than others? cuz I want it to be heard very clearly.
Help me out yo!

I'd go with either a vortec or a procharger. The intercooled procharger setup is very nice.

For 1500 bux your going to probably only stumble on used Vortechs or maybe a Paxton(non-intercooled and feed off the oilpan). I'm sure you could find a used ATI intercooled setup on eb*y but I don't remember ever seeing any. My P1SC with a two core intercooler cost me like 3100 3 years ago and bought a 14lb pulley for it off eb*y for 25 dollars.

When I did a search alot of people said dont by a Paxton. Is that true? What ones should I stay away from?
I'm running a Vortech S-Trim V1 and its pretty loud. People can hear it coming and everyone looks to see what it is. I dunno about it being cheap. I think all S/C are pretty much expensive no matter how you look at it. I was lucky that this one came on a car I bought at a great price so it was essentially free. They sure are fun though ...

I dont think its gona happen for $1500 steve,
MAYBE a used and wore out paxton thats gona need a rebuild.
for the $ you wanta spend go the DIY turbo setup. Ive got one siting here now that can easily be reproduced for your price range.
LMK when you have time to come check it out. We can pull the headers and y pipe outa my TA and mock it up to see if you like it or not.
clears all stock 91-92 sepr. setups.
