Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

I just had my procharged 383 TPI (specs in sig) dynoed. The car made 521 rwhp and 583 rwtq. Peak numbers with the blower making 7 lbs of boost. Much thanks on here to Orr89RocZ and the guys at FJ Performance for helping finally get this set up tuned correctly.

Re: Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

It was definitely interesting. I was happy with the results. I guess sooner or later i'll have to see how it responds to 12 lbs.

I'm running the ebl p4 ecm, which I got from dynamic efi. Member Rbob on here designed that whole ecm set up I believe.

Nice tq numbers! Gotta feel nice on the street. Main reason I miss my old 383 LT1 over the LS stuff.

Re: Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

This thing off the hit at 2500 rpm was already making 450 wtq and seeing 1-2 psi boost. Still over 540 lb ft at 5000 where run was cut short as it was having issues keeping blower belt on. It will make 12 psi by 6000 but tpi is hurting power production at that point.

Re: Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

Yeah, not the greatest intake for that setup, have you thought about running a mini-ram?

Re: Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

Yes, it will be suffering from the TPI wall. There really is no way around it, it seems.

Why do you think it's having belt issues? Is it flex or alignment?

Re: Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

Get a MAX-ported tpi. I did, and I have to rev it into 5000rpm+ range...or I LOOSE e.t AND mph.

Re: Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

Does the cost of the "MAX TPI" compare to, or is it less than a mini-ram?

Re: Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

The car already has a welded up and ported base. Not a whole lot left to do there except shorten the runners.

I'll try to get a copy of the dyno chart but as tpi falls off naturally from long runners, the procharger is making more and more boost. That boost is adding back power to offset the tpi shortfall. Result is table top flat hp and torque curve. That thing will still make alittle more power peak beyond 5k but not a ton more. But it does extend to 6k and likely beyond but i only took it to 6000. Very impressive curve tho.

Re: Procharged 383 TPI Dyno Numbers

Yes the car has an eagle forged bottom end. Unfortunately, I don't have any videos of it running. I think it is an alignment issue that's making it throw belts. I'll have to check more into it when I get some free time.
