454 HO superchager?

I have been looking for a long time at putting a 454 HO crate in my 82 camaro

I know the compression is 8.75 to 1 for that crate

how much boost can be run with a small procharger or roots blower?

and does the max (6000) rpm of the engine change with the addition of a supercharger?

You could probably get away with 8 - 10 psi non-intercooled ProChargarged on pump gas, or 18-20 psi ProCharged & intercooled on pump gas.

put a more blower friendly cam in that 454 HO and 600hp is like falling off a log.

max rpm is gonna be the same unless you change the cam and valve springs(which I agree, you should do) - under boost, cast pistons, I don't think I'd look for over 6k...

- also, even if you don't change the cam, I'd look into better valve springs for the blower.

the bottom end of the 454 is all forged not cast does that make a big difference?

well then cam and better valve springs if you're gonna boost it.

forged makes a big difference...you can throw much more at it! - Change the springs to suit the blower, I'd change the cam too and pick up the hp. You're there, you're spending most of the money, spend the extra and put a good cam and springs in it. Roller rockers wouldn't hurt you none either...
