Intercooler mounting, solid or rubber?
I'm installing an intercooler (universal), just looking for ideas on mounting. Solid to body or some sort of rubber cushions. Its a bar & plate cooler, it weighs about 30 lbs.
I don't think it would be a bad idea to rubber-mount it, in theory it would probably be better for IC longevity.
However, plenty of people have mounted them to the body or bumpers in various vehicles, so I don't think that hurts anything either. Unless of course you have solid motor mounts and a lumpy cam, then you might want to watch out for the intercooler as well as everything else.

Apparently I can't edit for very long anymore. I wanted to add this...
I mounted my Talon's with two aluminum 'straps' from the top of the IC raising up about 6-8" then screwed in sandwiched between the hood latch support and radiator support, so it's somewhat hard mounted, but not really. The outlets are on the bottom facing out, those help hold it in place with the IC pipes too. It's lasted like this for ~30k miles now without problems.

the way ive seen them done before, and am planning to do mine, it have 1'' tabs welded onto the I/C that will mount to some part of the radiator support or bumper of the car. Use rubber blocks with a hole in them to "space" the i/c off whereever you mount it to. Should help your i/c last a little longer in there if you have a rough ride.

I made brackets & tack welded them for mine the other night. I rubber mounted it. Use "hump hose" for the outlet and inlet pipe(s). Put the hose in spots where the pipe will compress/expand the hose.
