Help. Surging/power loss?

Ive had this ongoing problem for a few weeks now and its really starting to bother me. When cruising off boost, ill get a 'surge' of power and then it will drop off. This happens without any real pattern.

Its almost as if i there was someone pressing the pedel down quickly. The only other symtom i have is when im flooring it hard (with <3psi boost), but instead of a surge of power its a sudden loss of power, then surge forward, then loss again etc... sometimes it would drop enough to get a backfire out of the zorst.

It does seem to better (in both cases) straight after startup, but then gets worse the more i drive it an the hotter it gets.

So far, trying to solve this and other problems ive;

- new dizzy cap and rotor
- new fuel filter
- checked my TPS sensor voltage

Im sure ive checked other things but just cant remember.

My question i guess is what sort of issues could cause this behaviour? Im posting it here since im almost certain its only happened since I boosted the car, although this could easily be coincidence.

My best guess right now is an intermitant intake leak. Like when im cruising (vacuum) it will occassionaly 'open up' and give me my surge of power, then under hard acceleration (boost) it does something and causes my loss of power (anti-surge) and if i stay on it the backfire.

Any ideas? What is it you can spray over things to find vacuum leaks by stalling the motor?

Help.
