D-1 on stock TPI bottom end?

I was considering adding a D-1 supercharger pullied for 12 psi and 3-core intercooler to my TPI 350. The block is stock with the original 9.3:1 cast aluminum pistons. I will use larger injectors, the FMU supplied with the kit, remove my chip, and add an MSD BTM. I am wondering if my engine will live comfortably under these conditions for a few years until I get forged components and pully the blower for 15 psi. Any suggestions on what it would take to make my stock block work, if any? What can I expect as far as longevity is concerned? The blower will be professionally installed and dyno tuned by a professional, but I would like to hear from your experiences.

Well, it will work. But i would pulley for 9lbs of boost because the D-1 flows more air than the P600B at 12psi and that could get you big numbers, but good hurt the motor. I would go with the 9lb pulley. Also, it should be fine. I run 12psi and have had no problems except for fuel stuff. Not the blowers fault though, mine. Also, i have yet to retard timing. Just a little right now because it is so cold out and the air is so dense that it fills the cylinders more. So you can get the D-1 and the upgraded intercooler, but only pulley for 9. The D-1 i think flows at 9psi what the P600B flows at 12 or 15psi i think. I could be wrong but we are really talking about airflow here and not boost. Happy supercharging.

my 1989 is 9.3 to 1 and the newer ones (91-92) pretty sure were 9.5 to 1

Just wondering, but how can I pulley for less than 12# of boost using the D-1? I know the 12# pulley is 12 rib, but is there a 12 rib 9 or 10# pulley? How did you guys pully for less boost? Also, any stories of any pitfalls you encountered with your supercharger would be helpful.

Mello,
Use the search on this site and do alot of reading...there is a ton of stuff archived on prochargers, vortechs, paxtons, weiands, etc...
If you choose the D1 self contained unit there is alot of prob's with the kit...but ATI, procharged89z, and myself are trying to get it straightened out...

You can pulley the D1 to 10# with a 4.00" pulley on the head unit(which is what i'll be using)...12# with a 3.70"
and you can still use the same 12rib belt...

Also i looked at your signature and depending on which underdrive pulleys you have...you may not be able to use them and same with the hypertech chip...plus you might want to ask around too see if anyone has installed the 3-core intercooler in a firebird...i had to do alittle cutting to the fascia support on my Z to install the 3-core...its a VERY tight fit...
