I really need to learn how exactly a supercharger effects your engine, but I want to build a nice 355 that has at least 400-450 horses without the blower (but still built to handle it).

I want to run a pretty radical cam (230+ duration, .500+ lift) and a TCI Streetfighter torque converter (3000-3500 stall) and then pop on a procharger when the funds are available and all I want is more power without any hassels...can I still run the cam and torque converter with the blower?

dont see 400hp with a blower compression, but 300 or 350 is possible. also, get a cam suited for a blower car. it wont wake up the car much with out the blower, but it sure will when you get it

I think it is very possible to make 400hp on motor alone with low compression, reason being,I made 400hp and 410lb on a 355 with 9.1 compression. But this was with real good heads, they were out of the box AFR 195s,but they are the main contributer to my #s.I had TRW blower pistons,Total seal rings,Eagle Sir rods,Gm 1053 steel crank, custom blower cam with 1.6 rockers.I think you can do it.When my moter dynoed,The first couple of pulls only showed 380 hp,still a great # on low compression, but little tweaks here and there revealed that magical 400.So look for a builder who has experience.

well true, 400hp on a 9:1 motor is possible, but not very blower friendly. it is dont get me wrong, but i like 8.5:1. more boost with stock timing. and a little leeway in you run lower boost too.
-BTW i would not use total seal rings. i have heard good things about them, but bad things too. plus the bad things out weight the benefits. the little extra horsepower they give you is not worth the friction created in the cylinder walls. just use a high quality plasma-moly ring

Total Seal makes other rings without the second fully sealed ring. But with my combo it is specifically built for supercharger, that was my goal.8.5 to 1 is too low for a 355 unless you are running mondo boost in the 15lb area. The rings I purchased are not off the shelf Total seal rings, they are of special material made specifically for supercharged engines, thats why I paid $195 for them. And on the street you want to run a 5/64 ring, the thinner rings JE pistons require dont control oil that well and oil in your chamber on a blown motor spells detonation real quick. And thinner rings only pay divendends on high rpm motors,6500+.Under this the thinner rings have no advantage over conventional sized Total seals.ProchargedRoc,who told you they make more friction?I have never heard such a thing.
