Should I use a TH350 or T56 w/ a roots-blower?
Should I use a TH350 or T56 w/ a roots-blower?
I have a '84 Z28 that goes 11.50's at 118 mph. in the 1/4 mile. I'm running a TH350 now, but miss shifting gears. I have a Currie 9" rear, so I'm not concerned with rear breakage. Should I leave my car like it is? Will the T56 hold up? Will my car slow down? Speed up? Please help me out.

The T56 should hold up fine, just be sure to use a good clutch! In all likelyhood the car will be slightly slower at the strip unless you are very good at launching the car and speed shift the "ƒ¥©§" out of it. A good stall converter is hard to beat out of the hole do to the torque multiplication it provides and the ease of launching. It is also hard to beat the speed of shifting. But with lots of practice you can reduce the difference.
T-56 will only make ur car faster and more fun to drive. I believe it will hold up. With the manual tranny u will have 5% more power to the rear wheels and with a manual u will bve in ur power band alot more. Especially going from a 3spd auot to a 6 spd manual. I say GO 4 IT!

Hey,
Keep the TH 350. If you want to shift gears, get yourself a ratchet shifter. You control the shifts all you want then....and you will never miss shifts either. Plus, no clutch to step-on, replace, adjust, etc.
