Is an engine checkup a good idea before adding power add-ons? Sounds like it is to me. What kind of checkup should be done?

i would say do a basic tune up:
-fuel filter
-plugs (colder heat ranges for the blower)
-wires
-set timing to base
-make sure you have no vacuum leaks
-make sure you are not burning any oil
-change your oil/filter and make sure to put synthetic

that is all i can think of right now

 

After you tune it up,
JACK IT UP LIKE A MOTHER!

seriously. Just make sure your car is running good. Procharged covered it well.

 

Since you got the plugs out anyway you migh as well do a compression check as well as a leak down test.
