I have a 86 Iroc with custom ram air ducted from the foglights. The only con I can think of is getting more dirt/and or rain to the filters. I run K&N filters and check them all the time. If they look dirty I clean them. I have never really had any problem with water getting in, the K&N are washable so it won't hurt them if they get wet. I just try to not to drive my car too fast in the rain. I drove to the beach 250miles one way at 80 mph in the rain and had no trouble and still got 24mpg.
